(reported by journalist Zhou Li-xing from Military News Agency on July 7th in Taoyuan)The "Mountain Passes Marching" of number five camp under ROC Army Aviation and Special Forces Command which lasted for seventeen days and stretched across the main arteries of mountain area located in four cities and counties with the sum of a 350-kilometer route was finally completed at Wu Han military camp in Taoyuan this morning. The officers from special forces had started their itinerary from Gu Guan in Taichung, and finished the training in running with steady shouts that displayed the high morale during the last mile of the journey back to the camp.
The route of this time's Mountain Passes Marching covered four cities and counties including Taichung, Miaoli, Hsin Chu, and Taoyuan. When the brothers and sisters from number five camp under ROC Army Aviation and Special Forces Command stepped into the camp entrance according to the designated plan right on time at nine o'clock this morning, Lieutenant General Huang, the deputy commander of Army Ground Forces, especially had showed up to welcome their returning to the camp. And while the officers were passing through the mileage sign of "the accumulation of three hundred and fifty kilometers of the march", Lieutenant General Huang was standing beside the sign and congratulating the completion of the training that had been formally accomplished by giving five to each one of the officers.
"I admire your aspirations and ambitions of persistency till the last minute, and am deeply impressed by the spirit of "“The mountain lowers the head; the river allows passing through”" you have displayed during the whole process of marching step by step with gritting your teeth." said Lieutenant General Huang on the following closing ceremony. He praised and encouraged the quality of an exacting, rigid, hardworking and refining deed the officers from special forces had been manifesting during the Mountain Passes Marching.
Lieutenant General Huang stressed that ever since 2001, there had been 34 camps and units with over ten thousands officers from special forces partaking in the training of Mountain Passes Marching for the past 16 years, and that the officers from number five camp was the 35th camps of special forces which accomplished the mission. The action represented the officers' genuine capability of taking up arms on behalf of a nationality and being the true guardians who could protect the people of our country.
