(reported by journalist Wu Bai-rong from Military News Agency on November 1st in Tainan)The exercise of army ground forces “Chang Qing No. 16 has proceeded to offensive and defensive phase since a few days ago. Collaborating with unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the practice of information interrogation and acquisition is led by 269 brigade, the reconnaissance and patrol battalion of 6th corps, which commences the opening of the attack.
Along with the ceaseless forwardness of 269 brigade’s main force from the northern area, the battle field stretches to Yunlin front line. Mastering the imagery enemy information through applying interrogative means within a limited time, the process of command and planning is the prime issue for verification of the phase. Unlike on-site trainings in normal times, the exercise tests the learning and ability plus battlefield adaptability and flexibility of cadres at diverse ranks based on an in-situ, actual-forces, and fully-armored mode while carrying out each examination subject in accordance with condition induction.
Subordinated to 8th corps of army ground forces, the entire complement from the 269 brigade in southern Taiwan partakes in the exercise in a fully-armored manner: Taiwan infantry fighting vehicle, new combat personal equipment, light tactical wheeled vehicle, 105 howitzers, and etc. are all included in this time’s validation. The exercise of the phase majorly focuses on the disposal of every circumstance, the tactical performance, and the coordinated cooperation among services, arms, and line officers. Although the process of exercise is painstaking for that the practice area is particularly located nearby suburb, the tactical route requires passing through both cities and towns, and the rotation of day-and-night attack and defense which outputs extreme physical exertion, the morale of the soldiers still hits an all-time high.
The 10th corps of army ground forces indicates that in order to adapt to the environmental change of battlefield, Chang Qing Exercise has shifted into a training practice of joint operation. Aside from the exercise participated by relevant troops from army ground forces, the operational training courses also covers application procedure of navy and air force reinforcement, information collection and obtainment by UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle), and etc. so that the concept of collaborative operations and the importance of sea-air superiority towards ground combat can be built and recognized at the same time. It is expected that the stated goal of military practice can be attained through combining the military posture of joint operations training and the simulation of battlefield situation.
