(reported by journalist Li, Yi-Hao from Military News Agency on April 13th in Yilan) To strengthen war-readiness of the military servicemen as well as their fast contingency capability, the navy is organized into 62.9 detachment today, and has enlisted the troops of air-force as it executes "test of war-readiness test on spot-check" joint exercise. The commander-in-chief, President Tsai Ing-wen, boards onto Keelung-class military vessel in person to observe the entire processes of exercise, and she encourages all the naval servicemen to strive what they can and expresses her appreciation for the hard work they have rendered for war-readiness.
The exercise is carried out at the open waters of Yilan in the morning, with naval vessels including Keelung-class, Kangding-class, Chengkung-class, Jiyang-class, Yongfeng-class, Yongjing-class, Xunhai-class (Minjiang warship), Jinjiang-class warship, and Guanghua No. 6 fast attack craft-guided missile (FACG), and Chien-Lung type submarine, totaling 20 vessels of various kinds take part in the drill. Besides, there are also S-70 anti-submarine helicopter, and F-16 of the air-force and other airborne troops to take part in the exercise and corroborate the defense for principal port as well as fast contingency capability.
The exercise assumes that the air-force and surface vessel group of the hypothesized enemy intend to invade our territorial air and waters, and have resorted to special operation force in an attempt to seize and sabotage critical objectives of protection. After our military troop has mastered enemy intelligence, it has quickly mobilized navy marines stationed at the port area with regional army acting as back-up support force to implement counter special operation. In addition, marine task detachment has swiftly completed war-readiness, and employed asymmetrical method of operation of "spending minimum effort to achieve maximum result" as well as defeating enemy of combat tempo from "the distant to the close" so as to successfully achieve the mission of exercise.
The Navy Commands points out that the navy is, for the time being, striving with the work of establishing a new generation armed force so that it can, based on existing foundation, continue to reinforce its military strength to ensure our national security and unimpeded navigation to the outside world. It is hoped that our nationals can keep on rendering their support as the naval servicemen adhere to the loyal and faith military tradition of sacrifice, dedication, and spirit of sharing the same destiny in the same boat at time they make full effort to training for war-readiness and build up reliable combat capability to defend the safety of our territorial waters.
