Students and teachers from National Taiwan University, University of Taipei, and National Yunlin University of Science and Technology have stepped on Taiping Island and personally appreciated the humanity, history, natural landscape, and its constructions as they have witnessed our determination to plan and operate ourselves in South China Sea.
The first lot of Spratly Islands Study is respectively led by three professors of Chou Chongxi from National Taiwan University, Wang Ming-chi from University of Taipei, and Wang Chi-sing from National Yunlin University of Science and Technology as they lead 18 graduate students of three schools and start off with Kangding-class warship to conduct reconnaissance and patrol mission on the 19th around South China Sea. Besides, they have also visited the livestock farm, Spratly Islands Hospital, light-tower of Taipei Island, and No. 5 water-well and various other facilities, witnessing the works of our operation on Taipei Island. In addition, they have, through the transmission of "Time Capsule," continued the spirit of passing on the heritage.
In the morning next day, the entourage of teachers and students head towards the "Old Japanese Trestle Bridge" of Taiping Island to watch the classic landscape, first rays of the morning sun, and they are marveled so much about the wonder at our southern frontier. Afterwards, the entourage join the servicemen on the island to take part in the flag-raising ceremony as they stare our national flag rising slowly at the southern frontier of our country, leaving behind so much sensation to all of the teachers and students. They have then realized how precious this land of our country 1,600 km far away from Taiwan as the consciousness of sovereignty that Spratly Islands is our intrinsic territory is well and strongly embodied among them.
