(Military News Agency Reporter Lee Yi-hao, Oct 10th, Taipei) Central government and all parties’ celebration of National Day was held at the plaza in front of Presidential Office. President Tsai Ing-wen along with foreign dignitaries and nationals celebrated the birth of the nation. Soldiers and student bodies gave brilliant performances and won the hurrahs of the crowd.
The celebrations were hosted by chairman of Preparation Committee and President of Legislative Yuan Su Chia-chyuan. Foreign diplomatic personnel, dignitaries, heads of all departments of government, elected representatives, overseas returnees and nationals all took part. President Tsai arrived shortly after and spoke about “A better Taiwan”. She emphasized “Fulfilling promises and rushing reforms”, “Defending democracy and freedom”, and “Aggressively look for Taiwan’s position in the new world order” to facilitate a better Taiwan.
This year’s theme was “Progress together in 2017”. Performances, the army’s recruitment center, marching band, MP special services company, MP guard force, and Army aviation and special services command all gave brilliant drill performances, to duly wish the nation a very happy birthday. And last but not least it was the Air Force Thunder Tigers’ formation of five jets flying across the podium and drawing out three streams of blue, white and red in the sky to bless the nation and pay respects to all the constituents of the celebrations, which was inspirational.
In other news, Taoyuan City Shin-hsing High School and National Taiwan College of Performing Arts who won the High School Guard of Honor competition, and a carnival parade car carrying the gold medal winners from the Taipei Universiade was another facet of spirit-raising performances to celebrate excitedly our Double Tenth Day and all wish our nation a very happy birthday to end proceedings.
