(reported by journalist Wu, Tung-Sheng from Military News Agency on July 1st in Kaohsiung) Cadets of the national defense education summer combat camp “Marine Life Experience Camp” boarded the Pan Shi-class fast combat support ship today, where they are welcomed with the gentle warm wind under the bright sun of southern Taiwan as the ship sailed towards the Taiwan Strait, and the cadets were granted the opportunity to experience the braving of the wind and the waves, which allowed them to understand the daily hardships of the Navy comrades from safeguarding coastal and territorial areas.
The course first introduced the departure procedure of Navy through the explanation from the instructor, then cadets were led to the flight deck to experience the harnessing of heaving lines, put on heavy fireproof clothing, and operate flag semaphore, where they became more familiar with Navy affairs in an experience course that is both entertaining and educational.
Immediately after that was the main event of “Marine Refuel” course, where the Cheng Kung-class frigate slowly sailed to the port side of the Pan Shi-class fast combat support ship, and the two ships implemented a fuel replenishment through the fuel delivery pipeline. The refueled ship was then received with salutes, which has left a deep impression in the hearts of the cadets regarding the diligent and refined training of all on-board soldiers and officers.
At the end, on-board soldiers and officers hung up the national flag of Republic of China, and invited cadets to take commemorative photos, which perfectly ended the experience course.
