(Exclusively interviewed by journalist Chen Jun-jun from Military News Agency) “News bring information to the public, and music provides power to the people”. Lieutenant Lu Shang-yu, press officer of the Military News Agency, has stated that music expresses atmospheres and common life experience that cannot be depicted with mere words, and he hopes that through the resonance of melody, more people are willing to calm their state of mind to appreciate the videos, and then become more familiar with the Armed Forces, which in turn become supportive of these courageous comrades.
Lu Shang-yu joined the pop guitar club during senior high school, where he sincerely dedicated himself into music, then he participated in band performance during his study at Fu Hsing Kang College, which irrigated nutrients for his music composition. Lu remembered that his pop guitar club teach once emphasized that “true music is what you carry around”, which inspired him to digitalize his music creation, where he is able to put his music onto devices including the internet and mobile phones, allowing everyone to listen to his creation at any time and any places.
Lu Shang-yu expressed that he did not touch music for nearly half a year while serving at the 257 Brigade of Army during his first year of military career because he was fully devoted into his position of chief counselor, and he stumbled into an opportunity to work together with the Military News Agency and Captain Shi Wai-jun, who is currently studying at the Institute of Political Science of Fu Hsing Kang College, NDU, and produced the song “Because of You” for the Juguang program of “Story of a Bowl of Noodles”, which initiated the opportunity to co-create with the Military News Agency.
“Allowing the Armed Forces to continue to be seen through the infinite music”. Lu Shang-yu expressed that music production is varied in sizes, though the one unswerving rule is that is always complex and without definitive rules. A complete song starts from the composing of lyrics and melody, recording, composition, and audio mixing in the early stage, to the post production of master tapes. Lu also pointed out that even a song with just 3 minutes in duration would require a prolonged period of production time, and the complexity of the music engineering decides the encore degree of a song, which is also the item and direction that he wishes to improve and reinforce in the future.
