(reported by journalist Chen, Jun-Jun from Military News Agency on March 17th in Yunlin) When the Special Force 4th Battalion executed the mountain pass march training at potential disaster areas in 2014, major general Guo, commander of the Army Aviation and Special Forces Command at the time, ordered to have one canine per company when executing search & rescue and special forces training.
That is how “Hola”, a dog facing euthanasia at the Yunlin Animal Hospital at the time, formed ties with the special forces and joined the brigade. Rookie “Hola” would throw a tantrum and asked to be picked up after walking for 3km during the pre-march training; after arduous trainings, “Hola” conquered Wuling with the soldiers and officers of the Special Force 4th Battalion, and was awarded with a marching patch after completing the marching mission.
In the blink of an eye, 5 years have passed, and “Hola” has become a “senior” colleague after following the unit on multiple missions. For this mission and challenge of marching in important coastal towns, “Hola” once again marches on the journey by accompanying the soldiers and officers of the special forces with a swagger just like 5 years ago to complete the mission.
