Publication Date: 2019/06/24

(reported by journalist Cho, Yi-Li from Military News Agency on March 6th in Taichung) The “108-1st Ranger Cadre Training Class” of the Army Special Forces Joint Training Center unfolded its 5-day ranger final exam today, where cadets welcomed the final week of test after undergoing 15 weeks of arduous training. The Guguan area was hit with downpouring rain this morning, though the cadets were not afraid of the harsh weather, instead they applied what they have learnt to overcome terrain limitations, and accepted the challenges from each level.

Colonel Yuan, commander of the joint training center, implemented mission briefing for the final exam of the “108-1st Ranger Cadre Training Class”, and encouraged tested cadets to implement the unyielding spirit of rangers during the acceptance course that lasts 5 days 4 nights, and that no matter how difficult and arduous the process may be, they must focus on the target, break up the training that has been integrated for the past 15 weeks, and be proud of the fact that they are members of the ranger unit.

After completing equipment verification and organizing, the 108-1st ranger cadets marched forward with high morale and staunch glance, which initiated the path of pride for them becoming rangers.

Upon entering the mountain area, temperature became lower, along with the pouring rain, the objective environment was extremely severe. When faced with arduous ordeal, rangers must help each other, and exert the spirit of teamwork, in order to smoothly pass each level and verify their professional combat skills.

After sustaining 15 weeks of refined training, only 15 out of 29 cadets from the 108-1st training class have obtained the ranger medals under the examination and assessment mechanism of “rigorous assessment, rigorous elimination”. Through the result acceptance of the final week’s test, rangers with the most perseverance, endurance, and teamwork spirit, have been selected to form a professional contingent.

This test is implemented in complex and terrains that are difficult in access, including cliffs, waters, riverbed, and forest pathways surrounding the camp site. Through various simulated topics, the test integrated infiltration, invasion, and even assault, where cadets attacked and occupied important locations in the terrain, verifying the training result from the ranger cadre training class.
