Publication Date: 2019/08/07

(reported by journalist Chen Jun-jun from Military News Agency on August 7th in Kaohsiung) After intensive and rigorous training course, the 2019 cadet regiment of the nine schools of Armed Forces underwent comprehensive final acceptance of “Overwhelming Drills” today morning. Amidst the constant sound of artillery and smoggy atmosphere, all cadets dismounted their fear and marched forward courageously to complete the overwhelming reality acceptance under the order of the drill instructors.

Students who have applied for the Military Academy, Naval Academy, and Air Force Academy, as well as nine schools of Armed Forces including Fu Hsing Kang College, NDU, Chung Cheng Institute of Technology, and Management College of National Defense University, National Defense Medical Center, Air Force Institute of Technology, and Army Academy, are undergoing the 8-week admission training at the Military Academy in Fengshan, with “Overwhelming Drills”, the most rigorous item of the training session that is conducted this week being the comprehensive acceptance for all combat training courses for cadets.

During the acceptance course, cadets must pass through each obstacle including low tripwires, trenches, and barbed wires, where soldiers and teams of each unit must also cover each other under the order of the instructors to pass each level through methods including crawling, bending, and leaping, paired with concealment and covering. In the course of the test, apart from having to respond to various conditions, cadets must also face the fear arising from the explosion of TNT explosives and the machine gun shooting, while also pass through the attack route with discharged smoke grenades in one go, and finally charge into the enemy position and execute a wipe out procedure, which tests the psychological stress resistance of cadets when facing simulated battlefields.

Cadets Wu Shi-wen and Xiao Jun-de both graduated from Chung Cheng Armed Forces Preparatory School; they have stated that they feel a sense of mission towards the camouflage uniform that they are wearing, and emphasized that this uniform was given to them to protect this country. The two cadets will adhere to the training results from the past few weeks, and conquer each upcoming level to complete the admission training, so that they are able to welcome subsequent challenges.
