Minister Yen Hosts Announcement for the Principal of National Defense University Admiral Wang Shin-Lung Assumes New Position

(reported by journalist Chou, Li-Hsing from Military News Agency on April 2nd in Taoyuan) Yen Teh-Fa, Minister of Ministry of National Defense, hosted the announcement and handover ceremony for the principal of National Defense University today, and hoped that the university is able to continue the refinement and effort on talent cultivation under the leadership of the newly appointed principal, admiral Wang Shin-Lung.

The ceremony was hosted at the Shuaizhen Campus of National Defense University; after Minister Yen read out the announcement order, the newly appointed principal admiral Wang Shin-Lung received the seal from the former principal admiral Wu Wan-Jiao, and swore on the oath of office.

During his oration, Minister Yen pointed out that during the tenure of the former principal admiral Wu, he upheld a diligent and pragmatic spirit when conducting planning and promotion of various university affairs, and achieved excellent results from innovating teaching methods, refining the depth of education, enriching educational facilities, elevating the quality of instructors, to improving on education quality. Wu was awarded with the Order of Precious Tripod with Special Cravat by the president yesterday, which symbolized the recognition of his remarkable contribution during his tenure.

Minister Yen also pointed out that the newly appointed principal admiral Wang Shin-Lung has an impressive academic and experience resume, who excels in both civil and military affairs, and has been proactive and conscientious in serving the military. During his tenure of army commander, Wang produced excellent results in various major trainings and drills, planning of army establishment, troops rehabilitation, and implementation of disaster prevention. Minister Yen stated that Wang’s abilities in both civil and military affairs will indeed lead National Defense University on cultivating more excellent talent for the Armed Forces in the future based on the existing superior foundation.

Minister Yen further pointed out the 4 key points of “Reinforcing Military Depth”, “Developing Diversified Military Education”, “Implementing Professional Military Education”, and “Integrating Military Education with Combat Readiness Procedures for Army Establishment” to encourage all officers, teachers, and students of National Defense University, while also expressed his sincere gratitude and admiration towards the teachers, instructors, and team officers for their efforts and dedication in the cultivation of Armed Forces cadres.
